I was invited in 2006 to a residency at the University Technology Mara in Kelantan – Malaysia, during a month of work there I was able to produce four wood sculptures that were exhibited along with works by three other Jordanian artists and ten Malaysian artists, one of which was Juhari Said.

That residency was my introduction to wood, after my return to Jordan I started producing wood sculptures some of which were exhibited in my first solo exhibition October 2008 in Amman. Wood became my favorite material.
Juhari Said, one of the best Malaysian print makers had generously invited me to work and stay at his place: Akal Diulu (the source of mind / inspiration). Located just outside Kuala Lumpur, surrounded by a jungle, next to a river, with as much wood as I could eat and tools and studio space to work… Heaven.
Below are pictures of my five sculptures created there during the residency.
